When I play racquetball the bottom of my feet hurt, how do I play and prevent this??
Posted under Injuries by AdministratorMikezoola asked:
I played a lot of racquetball over a short period of time. As a result the bottoms of my feet were covered in blisters. Now months later the blisters have healed but every time I play racquetball the bottoms of my feet hurt very bad. What can I do, or wear, to prevent this.

By clenching the Raquet between your buttocks and standing on your hands……. Thats what I do.
What kind of shoes are you wearing? It sounds like your feet aren’t well supported and you need better shoes. I know the feeling you describe and Converse All Stars give me that feeling. They don’t support your feet at all.

It’s not because of the game most likely, but more of your shoes. I would say get shoes with better support because they’re not a good fit for your feet if they’re causing blisters.
your shoes are too big
they make your feet slide slightly in your shoes causing heat and thereby blisters.
get smaller shoes
or thicker socks
tighten your laces (not too tight)
Is your pain from the blisters or is it more of issue with your arches now? I’ll answer, but I need to know how your feet hurt. Either way it will be certain insoles for your shoes when you play. But depending on the problem, be it blisters, arches or whatever, there are different insoles.
Well – you may have done more damage to your feet than you realize, and they may not be entirely healed.
That said – get a better pair of shoes that provide more cushion. Combine that with some of the gel shock absorbing inserts for the shoes, and thick socks.
All of those things should reduce the amount of pressure on the soles of your feet as you move about. At a minimum it should reduce the pain, at best it might eliminate it entirely.

Depending on how bad it is then you might want to go to the doctor. they might be able to give you something for it. If its just from the blisters then maybe lay off the raquet ball for awhile. Have you tried puting powder in your shoes or socks so your feet dont rub against then shoe and get blisters?
