If you want to improve on tennis skills is it okay to take lessons for racquetball? Is there any difference?

I just want to take tennis lessons during the winter, but theres nowhere where i could find indoor tennis courts in my area. Im a lifetime fitness member, and they have racquetball lessons — which is like tennis. i figured its the same, and i could learn another sport at the same time while im improving tennis skills

racketball REALLY screwed up my tennis game. I played a racketball tourney over a weekend, the next week I had a tennis
tourney
all of my forehands went to the bottom of the net, and my backhands went 30 feet in the air
As far as staying in shape during the off-season, raquetball is a great idea. But don’t look to improve your tennis skills. The two sports are similar in that they both have a ball and a raquet. Other than that they are completely different.
Huge difference. My wife used to play tennis in HS and college and struggled a bit at first with RB. We play both and yes, your swing and techniques are different, but by the time you’ve gone through your warmups, you’ve adjusted to the correct game….
yes. RB is all in the wrist while tennis you use more than your wrist. Hit with a ball machine. dont play RB though
The game of tennis requires a lot more precision than raquetball. It might improve your power, but expect to hit a lot of balls out if you do practice raquetball.
Well racquet ball is good to improve with hitting harder and aiming. But I would only do it if you really can’t find tennis lessons in the neighborhood. But in the summer I would play tennis.
I’m guessing that this is not the answer you want to hear, but if you are serious about your tennis skills, you should never take up racquetball. In tennis you hit through the ball without bending your wrist at impact. In racquetball you swat at the ball, bending your wrist in the process. Playing tennis after playing racquetball may cause you to have wrist problems. If I were you I would either switch completely to racquetball or stay with tennis.
