Using racquetball room for tennis rallying?
Posted under Diet & Fitness by Administratorsport girl asked:
Is it permissible to use the indoor racquetball courts to play tennis. No, not with another person but I would be in there with a tennis racquet and ball rallying against the wall. Please advise. I am using Lifetime Fitness Gym, there are several glass courts and I will be going AFTER HOURS, when there is no wait and no demand for a court.
I am not hitting against the glass wall, I am hitting against the solid wall, which is what the racquetball players use.

No it is not. Your tennis ball would break the glass.

edit:
Being a racquetball player, we do use all the walls, including the ceiling and the glass back wall. Considering how small the court is, and depending on how hard you are hitting, chances are that your ball is going to hit the glass back wall and possibly break it. You’re hitting against the wall, which would bounce back the ball at pretty much the same speed as you hit it at. If you’re practicing some serves, the ball is going to come back at you in a much shorter time than if you were playing in a real tennis court because of the close distance of the wall. It doesn’t make sense at all.
I don’t know if your gymn has any rules about this, but I’ve seen people practice tennis in racquetball courts at 24hour fitness and nobody cared. If you reserve the court you can just sit in the middle and meditate if you wanted to, it’s noone elses business how you spend your hour. As far as tennis balls damaging the court, that would not be a problem. The walls are built tough and are constantly being hit with racquetballs, racquetball racquets and getting body slammed (including the glass walls). The only thing I would stay away from is using a challenge court to practice tennis, then you might irk some people
Your situation sounds perfectly fine.
If you use a spongy ball there won’t be any problems.
